Fushimi Inari-taisha

Orange gates stand one after another, forming tunnels that curve out of sight.

At a fork, two tunnels of orange gates run side by side, their posts painted black at the base and framed by carved stone pillars. Inside one, black writing covers the posts, a lantern hangs overhead, and the stone path curves out of view. Stone steps climb beneath more gates, and the last photo steps into the open: one large gate against a blue sky, an orange building behind it.

You will find Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto, Japan, a religious site set in forest. Spring and autumn are the best seasons. It is busy with tourists, and a visit keeps you moving.
