Torres del Paine

Snow-dusted peaks reflected in water so clear the stones beneath show through.

Under a blue-violet sky, jagged snowy peaks lie mirrored on a still lake. In the black-and-white photo, three upright rock spires stand behind a lake edged with boulders. There is also a white-water river rushing over boulders below a snowy massif, orange cloud burning above a line of dark peaks, and a turquoise lake fed by a waterfall between green hills.

Torres del Paine is in Chile's Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena region. Mountains, lakes and nature are what you come for. Its season is the local summer. It is popular with visitors, and a trip here has an adventurous edge.
