Wulingyuan

Narrow stone pillars stand above a forest, nearly every one of them topped with trees.

In haze, a crowd of tall, thin pillars stands shoulder to shoulder, most capped with a clump of green. Closer in, vertical streaks run down the rock walls. From the valley floor, an empty road follows a railing into the woods while the pillars rise over the treetops. The last photo is a wide panorama: a line of pillars between dense forest and mountains fading into haze.

Wulingyuan sits in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China, where mountains, forest and nature come together. Visit in spring or autumn. It is popular with visitors and suits an active day.
